TIMESINDONESIA, MAKKAH – The Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia are being prepared to face extreme heat conditions during their pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. This issue has become one consideration for the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia also known as Kemenag RI

As the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage approaches, the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (Menag RI) is cautioning pilgrims to take care of their health due to the scorching temperatures expected in Saudi Arabia. According to Minister of Religioous Affairs or Menag Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, temperatures in Mecca have already reached 40 degrees Celsius, with forecasts predicting it could rise to 48-50 degrees during the peak of the Hajj season.

"Today, the temperature is very hot. It's 40 degrees. This is not yet the peak. A few days ago, the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah mentioned that temperatures in Saudi Arabia during the peak of Hajj could reach 48 to 50 degrees," the Minister which also adressed as Gus Men stated in Mecca on Tuesday (7/5/2024).

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining health and physical fitness, Menag Yaqut urged pilgrims to ensure they are well-rested and physically prepared for the journey.

"I asked the Hajj pilgrims to prepare their condition as best as possible. Hajj is a physical worship. Prepare your best physique. Don't overexert yourself. Eat nutritious food, take vitamins. This will help pilgrims maintain stamina," Gus Men advised.

Furthermore, Menag Yaqut highlighted that the Ministry of Religious Affairs has collaborated with the Ministry of Health to provide 24-hour service to pilgrims. Pilgrims are encouraged to communicate any health needs they have to the staff without hesitation.

In an effort to safeguard the health of pilgrims, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has made health screenings a requirement for completing the Hajj fees. Additionally, the ministry has introduced the Hajj Exercise, a simple set of movements that can be performed by all pilgrims, including the elderly.

With these preparations and precautions in place, Kemenag RI expected that the Indonesian pilgrims are being equipped to embark on their spiritual journey while prioritizing their health and well-being.
